What's the plot of the story? It would be helpful.

ok... so it's about a girl named Stayce who finds that she is a vamp (once was dorment(however that's spelled)lol) and when she is activated (being bit by a full blood vamp) she finds that she is the key element to a silent war that has been going on for a few years now.

I've based my story partially off of that. BUT, I've changed the plot around so much, it's like .5% related.

As for name, I would pick one part of the plot that you just posted and think of some nifty names. Since I completely suck at names, this will merely be an example:

Key of War:
ummm, i'm not sure about that one...sounds catchy though.

The Silent Key Element:
Even though, that sounds like a nice title...it just doesn't seem to have much effect. It's, uh, too literal and not mysterious enough...it's more like *wham* "It's SILENT and it's a KEY!!"

The Element of War:
Now, that sounds like a book seller right there, all in itself. It has the right type of title that makes people curious about what "The Element of War" really means and doesn't give away any important details like:

Key ingrediant
Key to victory
or anything too obvious and revealing.

Just gonna say all the names sound like a war novel, not a fantasy book.
Ex. "The Art of War"(amazing novel) and "The Element of War", sound the same. Cause if I saw a book titled "The Element of War" I'm not thinking a vampire novel.

Possibly, it's a double-edged sword. May get some attraction but once the preview or first few pages are read some may be discouraged cause it wasn't what they where expecting. But it may catch others eyes and they like it.

But, that's inevitable...seeing as how the abundance of information is growing larger everyday. So much that's it's natural for ideas/events/titles/plots to repeat itself, no matter what form it takes...it is still related to its predecessor. All of this may seem to be the end of labels like "new" and "inventive", but so long as there are people out there at least trying to differ from "entertainment"s current course...then there is absolutely no reason to get in their way.

Overall, what i'm trying to say is..that having a title that doesn't neccessarily hint at what the story is about, it is still the first step to "individual thinking". Some may think "The Element of War" sounds a lot deeper and more meaningful than "Blood Suckers Live" or "Wanted Blood"...oh well, to each his/her own.

After over looking and reading Soulten's and Lokiworld's debate I must say it makes a lot of sense. Of course, since the access to resources is increaingly growing, some people are lacking creativity, since they can just go around finding random words and try to piece them together, hoping it sounds nice or catchy. Due to that, things aren't or don't seem "new".

It should be called 'The Keystone.' The reason for this title is because when building an arch (back in the Roman period) the keystone was the center stone that held the arch together and was therefore, the most important piece in the buidling process. So, if you story somehow relates to the point where she brings the two sides together... I find it the perfect title. If not, well.. I have no idea.

The Night/Twilight keystone?


I like watching and reading Vampire stuff every now and then. I mainly read about thieves and rogues which helps me think of dark names :dancing:. So yeah a few titles that came to me while I skimmed through.

The night keystone
Prophecy of night
A dark destiny
A journey into the night
Twilights key
Shadowy bloodline

I agree though the best way to title something to write it or at lest a part of it. Enjoy the titles feel free to build off them.:serious:

Now I like to call my self an author and I have done a couple of short stories about vampires, and as such I have done quite a bit of recherche on vampires. Righting about vampires can be quite difficult; simply because vampires stories have been around almost as long as humans. For instance altho most species of vampire can't stand sun light there are some that don't mind it at all. a prime example is a particular species making it's home in peru.

Oh yes sorry. Moving on, powers first and foremost all vampires (this is the only power that all vamps have mind you) supernatural strength and speed. Most vamps have long life but some live forever. some vamps can fly while others can leave there corporal form. some can shape-shift whilst still others can teleport. It's all a matter of what you want your vampires to do. Now on to names naming a vampire is one of the easiest parts of the proses of making a vamps character; simply because there name are normal names of the surrounding area.It all depends on where your story is set.
