Which is better?
I personally prefer turn base because it gives you a chance to think instead of hitting buttons as fast as possible. Also I'm not very good at real time, my timing always seems to be off. :o

i tend to agree with that, i like turn based more.:) but in some games real time is better and can be more fun cause it makes it more spontaneous:eek::eek:

I think it depends, some of the final fantasy games you needed turn based just to survive your first run through the game, but some of them it was just too easy if you didn't put in in real time, so in the end I guess it's not a matter of which is better, more which is better for each individual title

i agree doesnt really matter it is nice to have a game that has both in it

Couldn't agree more. Some games just work better turn based while others are better using real time.
I agree with Corwin. Some games need the turn-based fighting system to implement some strategy into a fight, where as other games are slow to start the story and the real-time fighting helps to pick up the pace getting you into the game.

I agree, Oblivion won't be so fun with turn based game play.

Come on people this is supposed to be a debate. Stop sitting on the fence and choosing both:mad:. Which one do you personally prefer to play.
Corwin
02-22-2008, 06:01 PM
if that's the way you wanted it then you should have asked which one we preferred from the start, asking which one is better is what got us into this particular line of discussion b/c both have their own merits and neither can really be said to be better than the other

I'm sorry. I'll try to be clearer in the future.:o
Let the debate begin.:D

A room you debate it.
In this section, you can discuss which choice you like better and why, and argue with others why your choice is better than theirs. :]

I played FFX-2 this morning, and I love the game and all, but the turn based attacking is kind of annoying. So I started play CoD4. lulz
Turn based for me. All of my favorite memories consist of playing a game with a tun-based battle system. Also if people are just getting into gaming it's good for them cause they have time to choose what to do instead of getting into a game with a weird battle system thats a little confusing.
Thoza
02-24-2008, 11:27 PM
what tun bassed battle system ??
Ariya
02-24-2008, 11:36 PM
have you ever played Final Fantasy? Any of them. The way they fight in there is the turn based system.

I love the final fantasy games so I guess I like turn based, our their particular amalgamation of turn base and real time, the active atb as opposed to the wait version, but real time kicks ass in terms of Zelda and Kingdom Hearts, man I can't wait for the next KH game

although turn based is enjoyable I'd have to say Realtime is much better. It requires far more thinking and quick decision making, hence it being more of an intellectual challenge. And i do love challenging myself :P

i love both. i love turned based rpg's and real time for fps'. they are both equally as good as the other in my opinion

doesn't Kingdom Hearts I and II get the love though for being a real time rpg? I loved that game, in fact I can't wait for the next title in the series, the cutscenes for it looked phenomenal

Oh I loved those games, did you ever finish it, or did you just putter around on the starting island? personally I suggest you go back, replay the first one, get the perfect ending for the extra cutscene, then pick up the second one and kick ass w/ it too, I loved the drive modes on the second one, they were fun and not as hard to lvl up as ppl claimed, and some of the reaction commands and extra moves sora only got during major fights looked great, especially during the sephiroth fight in the second one, I didn't like it during the first one b/c I got killed way too many times

i beat the first one a few months after it came out, but i've yet to even play the second one. i took it form my bros room to play one day but... i just never got around to it. does the second one measure up to the first one?

oh it was great, there are one or two things that take a little getting used to but I did pretty much the same thing w/ it that I did w/ the first one, which was the day it came out, I sat my ass down in a chair and played for 12 hours straight and was happy about it, they did get rid of the whole trinity move thing from the first one, but they added the drive forms which are great, I especially like valor, master, and final form, wisdom drive form was good too, but it's strength really lay w/ the most powerful version of any spell, just keep using it until mana taps out, then it's got hyper mana regen in that form so you can start casting again in a sec or two, and I will say this, when you get to the Coliseum and are doing the tournaments, the later ones where you have to get those point scores to fill out the journal entry towards a completed journal and thus a perfect game for the newest hidden cutscene, use stitch of lilo and stitch fame, that little bastard can rack up points like no one else when you do his little lute move, but to maximize your results, get everyone in camera view when you do it, even if they are only barely in the edge, that's not as hard as it might sound since you can move the camera when you enter that mode after summoning him, you'll see, have fun, and kick ass

speaking of the colosseum, did anyone ever beat sepiroth on the platinum cup on number KH1? because i never could :crying::crying::crying:

my sister did, I never did, but on the first one I didn't make as much of an effort to lvl up an insane amount to take him on b/c he wasn't a necessary fight to complete the journal and get the so called secret ending w/ the extra cutscene, on the second one, he seems to be a little easier and is required to complete the journal, and of course having Ultima Weapon keyblade helps when it comes time to kick his ass, but there's a fairly easy strategy to pounding him into the pavement in KHII

I personally like real time because it could get boring when its turn base. Also when you do real time you have more chances of controlling what is going to happen next. Some games though i would prefer to think instead of just go all out on though like Final Fantasy i just like to sit back and enjoy the fighting music.

real time not turned base it just not fun and it is not much actions you see your hero doing things but you dont "control" him

I post here first then... I side with turn based...I do play a lot of real time but I like turn based cause you get to fight with more characters..... Well i guess that is my definition of turn based(FF Tactics and the like).....and real time is the ones like tekken.
