The reason I am picking on so many of your petty problems is because for veteran Death Note anime and manga viewers, this situation is completely impossible. It does not add up. it does not make sense. The reason you make a movie out of a great series is to promote it, not degrade it. And I bet first time viewers looking for a good movie watching this and then the anime right after, I bet they would say the same, damn thing. This was just a waste of an hour and fifty minutes to me. nothing added up and everything was done utterly incorrectly. It was a VERY shitty movie. Voice acting, acting…everything.
The point of making a movie is to have a grea thing going. First time viewers of this would be idly confused and would walk out thinking it a horrible movie. You lost the hell out of alien audiences and made veteran viewers cry. It sucked. Horrendously. It was atrocious. It was too quick, it needs more procrastination and MONOLOGUES ARE NOT A BAD THING!
In all of ym years watching anime, I really never seen a movie that needs a rewrite and remake as soon as the movie came out or even before it came out. You need a whole nu team and a better hair stylist. Gotta remember that just because the boy is not pretty, does not mean he will rock the audiences. It would suprise me if this movie sold. Would suprise me if the movie hit a good box office value.
I love Death Note but I hate this utter trash movie. Better luck in number 2. Seriously.
Chief Yagami usually always wears glasses and has a stashe while he’s at it. Why was this one clean? Besides, he always has faith in L, in the movie he was a complete dickhead to L, regardless of the situation. He may think horrid thoughts but he rarely states them.
The only Americans are unimportant FBI agents? This lucidly displays that you could have picked up some random idiot or hobo or bum off the street and told him, “You’re in my movie, just trip and fall.” That is not so….impressive.
What is with the girl agent? Did all the guys on L’s team not have enough a reason to participate if her pretty self was not with them?
This really caught my attention more than anything: I noticed that L spoke some nonsense about Kira using one of the victims to call him. Do I need to say more? Okay, how the hell can a victim call L? He does not know L’s real name, he does not know L’s face, does not know L’s number and a high to perfect chance, he does not know L. It crosses the rule about interfering with anothers fate. Sure, he didn’t kill L, but the fact that he can interact with L without actually knowing anything about L, he should have just died by heart attack.
The chocolate bar — yeah….that’s N’s brother’s thing. Not once in the anime, as I can CLEANLY recall does L every eat out to a choco bar.
The whole thing about Naomi Misona having any connection or direct confrontation to anyone on the bus is complete bogus. He said what he saw from each passenger, he did not actually say names or depict faces so that more than kills the story.
Baldy with Misa’s snotkin. Okay, I heard of obsession, but seriously though, wtf? By the way, to go on about the idea, they play her admirer as if it was present — no — it is a few years ago.
Even if Misona could find out the names and actually confronted the suspects, she is FAR too direct to find anything out; she should be much more hypothetical and implicit. She is purely dense as hell. Also due to the fact that all of her so-called “evidence” are not even concrete — no — they are less than circumstantial.
Couldn’t ever picture Kira suing someone or even speaking the thought. Because Misona is an ex-FBI agent, it wouldn’t even go for harrassment. Light has no charge so I guess that could have given her some light to what he did.
The lead from the mechanical pencil was a fine point but I don’t think he would give it a look of that much obviousness about the lead. By the way, what about the paper in the door? He does not need to search if someone has been in, he only needs to look at that. By the way, the paper gave him what he needed to know. And the door handle ordeal? That would have helped as well. What is really WAY THE HELL OUT THERE is about the technology, cameras and bugs, detection. That’s quite a big conclusion to jump to.
L is just…if L saw what someone did with his movie character, the voice player or even the illustrator, he would have more than a few points of intelligence knocked from his genious brain, I bet.
Okay — surveillance death was impossible. He wasn’t even looking inside his chip bag, and the angle of how he was sitting did not allow it. And the volume could not possibly be loud enough for a hearing of it. By the way, L and Kira were looking at the same channel so there could not be anything Kira can see that I cannot, such as the name of the delinquent. And with all those cameras, done wrong of course, you would think that L would notice the criminals’ names being taken in his book?
L calls them bugs, not listening devices but I guess that is passable.
When the cameras are removed, doesn’t he wonder of the listening bugs before he speaks freely? I guess Kira’s stupidity is how L came with a bag of Kira’s flavor?
Misona dies before she can speak to L, by the way, how does she have his number? Is L getting sloppy?
I don’t ever remember anything about a museum anywhere in the anime. It never happened. The Kira Confession Session was bogus but the way to kill both his “love” and Misona was greatly performed. BTW, did I say KIRA DOES NOT LOVE?
Again, i state, for the entrance of Misa’s Kira-ness, the obsession attempted murder incident happened a few years back but you play it as if it was present. If this is true, then in Death Note 2, the Kira number 2 could not be possible. It’s kind of like…Misa is too stupid to get used to the whole Death Note Kira Power ability so fast.
Kira’s admittance to the investigation was whacked and performed quite ridiculosuly.
The end scene where L meets Kira is bogus and even so, to change it for a movie, it could be a LOT more actiony. Besides, L never carries food around with him in public. He travels about.
Okay, finished looking at the movie. I will state the problems in order as they came along.
The fact that Kira was slaying criminals one death per hour does not even add up to controlling the time of death. It’s more circumstantial than concrete. L is a genius — he should know this.
How does Light know that apples are Ryuk’s drug? He never told him that, yet he gives it to him obliviously?
Light is too freely speaking with Ryuk in the public. And when he finds out he has someone following him, he does so constantly and ignorantly and gives the agent more of a reason to suspect him.
A little older thought but remember when they showed the slide of the rule about manipulating death? Well, if this was a crucial enough detail to display, why did he let his enemy on the opposite side of the train track die of a heart attack as a normal, not manipulated death?
Does Light have a camera on his back or something so he can see that detective behind him or is that FBI agent stupid enough to “tail” someone in the open?
There are many forms of Japanese writing, trust me, I’m Asian, yet it is kind of convenient how the police officers jump to the conclusion of the beatnick in jail knowing such a complex writing/languistuic technique as Kanji, isn’t it?
On the news, L said don’t mention anything other than the cause of death to the reporters. This means he is giving his consent to speak of the cause of Death, and yet Light contradicts this by saying it was not stated. Add up?
Didn’t Misa have blonde hair in the Anime? I’m thinkin right now, besides Watari, does anyone not have almost black hair? Well, at least she’s cute but leave it to Misa’s obnoxious booty to not get herself in trouble…?
The fact that Light spoke outloud about the detective following him and confronted him about it is just in three words — an epic failure.
The criminal on the bus yelled “EVERYONE CHILL OUT!” verily hastily and dictatingly. This would make sense if the innocent bystanders actually did more than just almost not even care. Especially when the gun was popping off, wouldn’t you think?
I thought the FBI’s agent was Penber? Also, it is convenient that he is from the states as well his wife, yet they are Asian of a sort, isn’t it? And they are the only Americans on their whole secreted FBI team.
There is no possible way for Light to have known about the Death Note paprt trick without asking. This would confuse the audience.
The way the delinquent was hit by the car after he emerged from the bus was too fake. He went straight up like Superman but ended up a few feet away from the car as though he got thrusted in the car’s direction. Good timing though. Could have used the blood effect. From as hard as that criminal got hit by the car, if he didn’t get a skull crushed, he would have at least received internal bleeding.
L figures the code about Apples and Death Gods, not the police.
Naomi in the train scene, if not the train scene itself, was bogus beyond words.
Why does Kira never look sinsiter? WTB (want to buy) new Kira who can be handsome and still look sinister when appropriate. Evil cackles needto be a requirement as well.
The Raye Penber is so obvious about him being used by Kira. It’s an utter embarrassment. And the way Kira got the names he needed was not nearly intricate enough. This Kira seems more like someone who lives for tomorrow and just get lucky rather than planning. By the way, MONOLOGUES ARE NOT A BAD THING.
Why didn’t he state his signature quote: “Good-Bye, Raye Penber.” ?
Why did Ryuk show up for nothing?
I still think it’s BS that L narrowed it to an individual Kira and not a group Kira so quickly.
Kira kills 10 agents and a boss? What happened to the other 2 as dictated by the Anime?
This is page one. Seriously, is there nothing good about this movie? I mean no offense but this was a waste of 1 hr and 50 mins to me. When I’m done, I’ll explain why.
BTW — Watari was revealed too early. He is to be sacred as L.

Kira already has a big head on his shoulders. Bigger than should be. And again, acting without thinking. She can’t see the Shinigami, you fool.
And who is this stupid girl? Does he lover her? Does he even like her? That is blasphemy! He is a to-be God, should know better than to mix his feelings with his role. Yagami is a pretender, he does not love or know love. He knows enslavement. If it turns out this is not how it happens, it is so much failure, it is more than difficult to comprehend.
I apologize for the jeering comments but it is what it is. If this was made right, then I would not.

PS: Kira is too happy, even in public. He’s not supposed to be. Get it right.
And better acting in general BTW. WTB (want to buy) the crew and my cast as Light and recreate this whole thing my style.
Okay — 29 minutes in so far and I gotta say, this is the most horrendous movie representation of an anime I have ever seen in my life.
They need to procrastinate and a bit and let things take its course — in this movie, they get their facts so fast that if Kira and L were actually based in real life, they would mandatorily have to be working together. L gets his facts too fast for it to be possible at any level. The actual Yagami Light is being disgraced because this actor is way too immature and doesn’t think — he acts first. He lives for tomorrow unlike the Kira we all know and love. He talks too much and is too….he fails basically. Out of prediction, if I was the director and a smarter one than the one who made this, it is a no shit object that Kira has ended as soon as he began.
PS: Get better voice acting.

I thought it woz rubbish the film. I prefer the anime better and the book. and yea i agree with u HellBunny the acting reli does suck ass…like when every1s dying they are like faking it..even thou they are meant to coz there acting.
And yes ryuk is the best character in the movie they have got him 2 a T in the movie from the anime and the book.
