Shiki Tohno does not have a normal life. He suffered a terrible injury in his childhood that almost ended his life. Afterwards, he was sent away from his home to live with a relative until he fully recovered. Now in high school, he is ordered to come home by his sister, Akiha, after his father passes away. Shiki has to keep a huge secret from his family though. He hasnt been normal since the day of his accident. He now sees strange lines on all of the objects around him, and only through the use of special eyeglasses is his able to control his vision. The incident also left him with terrible amnesia for all of the events leading up to it. When he returns home he comes across a woman named Arcueid Brunstud, who he stabs and decapitates in a sudden burst of insanity. He is understandably shocked when he sees her standing next to him later, especially when she asks him to be her bodyguard. This is much more going on in this case than the eye can see.
